Invoice Items
Invoice items are those products or services that you sell to your customers. PortaBill provides an easy to use database of items that may be used whenever you need to issue a new invoice.
Invoice items, like customers, may be created from the main PortaBill window (
), or when you are creating a new invoice.
To create a new invoice item from the main PortaBill window, select the “Items” tab in the right hand pane of the window. This done, you can then click on the Add Item (
) button in the toolbar, or use the appropriate menu.
When the new invoice item dialog is displayed (
), you may then enter the details of the item. Before you can save an item, you need to enter in at least the following information:

•Item code

•Description
-
•Price
In addition to this, you cannot enter a new invoice item that has the same item code as an existing invoice item (
).
Products and services normally attract some form of sales tax. In some countries this is called a “Goods and Services” tax, “Value Added Tax”, or “Provincial Sales Tax”.
When you enter a new invoice item it is a good idea to let PortaBill know whether the price you have set for that item includes the sales tax or not. This allows PortaBill to calculate the invoice amount for an item correctly when you issue a new invoice.
In the Invoice Item dialog, if you select the “This price already includes Sales Tax” checkbox, then PortaBill will remember this, and apply the sales tax appropriately later.
